  4. Ginger garlic paste 3 tablespoons
  5. Fresh tomato puree 2 cups
  6. Salt 2 teaspoon[adjust as per your taste]
  7. Kashmiri red chilly powder 2 teaspoon
  8. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Coriander powder 1 1/2 tablespoon
  11. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  12. Curry powder 1 tablespoon
  13. Sugar 1 teaspoon
  14. Water 2 cups
  15. Coconut milk 2 cups
  16. Chopped coriander leaves

Method for Chickpea Curry:

  1. Pour oil to a large pot and heat it on a medium flame.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until it becomes golden brown in color, stir every two minutes once.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until the aroma of the ginger garlic paste comes out.
  4. Now lower the heat completely and add red chilly powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and curry powder.
  5. Give it a good stir, be sure not to them.
  6. When you start smelling the aroma of the spices, stir in the fresh tomato puree.
  7. Cook for about 5 to 6 minutes on a medium heat until the tomatoes are cooked and loose the raw flavor.
  8. Add chickpeas[soaked or preboiled], water and coconut milk and mix well.
  9. Cover the lid and simmer for about 15 minutes on low heat, keep stirring every 5 minutes so that the curry doesn’t burn at the bottom.
  10. When the chickpea softens, all the flavors will be absorbed.
  11. Now stir in the garam masala powder and sugar. Taste the curry and check if more garam masala powder and salt is required.
  12. Mix it well and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  13. Turn of the heat and garnish it with some coriander leaves.
  14. Now your chickpeas curry is ready to be served with rice, roti or naan.
